January 29-31:
Institute of
Women’s Health "Women’s Cancer Seminars"
Portland,
OR
Collaborative
Oncology: An Introduction to the Eclectic Triphasic Medical System (ETMS), a
Clinical Holistic Approach to Cancer Care Utilizing Botanical and Nutritional
Medicine as Targeted Therapies (1 hr)
This approach presents a multi-lens investigation, which
examines the patient’s constitutional energetics, endogenous and exogenous
factors, and specific biomarkers from blood, pathology and tissue testing. This
information is used to strategically design protocols to alter the individual’s
biological terrain, including gene behavior and expression, so that it is
conducive to health and vitality while actively suppressing disease.
Cancer and
Inflammation – The Role of Botanicals in Targeting Pro-inflammatory Pathways
Relating to Cancer Activation and Promotion (1 hr)
This discussion centers on botanicals that modulate
pro-inflammatory markers such as NF-kB, COX-2, LOX-5, 8, 1 and 15, AP-1, IL-6,
IGF 1 and 2, CRP, TNF- α and other inducers of inflammation
linked to pathways of cancer development.
Branch 3 of the ETMS
- Biomarkers Related to Cancer Host and Tumor, Protocol Building, Case Studies
(1 hr)
This presentation reviews categories of markers relating to
cancer terrain, general and specific tumor markers and growth factors involved
in angiogenesis. Tumor sensitivity and
resistance testing will also be discussed. Case study examples are presented to
articulate specific botanical and nutritional protocols and strategies based on
this information.
February 19-21: "Healing the
Brain" Conference
Hyatt Regency, Bellevue,
WA
Neurological Health: Botanical and
Nutritional Intervention for the Prevention and Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease
and other Dementias (2 hr)
This lecture presents the
hallmark age-related neuro-pathological features that contribute to
neurodegenerative disease resulting from chronic stress and inflammation to
oxidative stress and insulin resistance. The connection between endocrine
disruption, hormone deficiency and cognitive decline will be explained along
with important diagnostic markers such as Apo E4, homocysteine, and CRP for
assessing the risk of AD and other dementias. Effective botanical, nutritional,
dietary and lifestyle solutions will be presented including anabolic,
neurotrophic and neuroprotective compounds.
April 8-14: Annual Southwest Conference on Botanical
Medicine
Southwest Naturopathic College, Tempe,
AZ
Cardiovascular Blood Markers and Botanical
& Nutritional Therapies (3 hr)
Multiple factors contribute
to atherosclerosis and CVD, often acting in a synergistic way to promote CVD;
these include pro-inflammatory pathways, oxidation, methylation,
hypercoagulation, nutrition etc. This presentation will identify key
biochemical markers and specific tests for risk assessment such as NMR lipid
profiling, fibrinogen, ferratin, CRP and hormone panels. Botanical and
nutritional therapies for reducing these risks and restoring health will be
discussed.
Targeted Botanical and Drug Therapies in
Cancer – Branch 3 of the ETMS (1.5 hr)
The third branch of the Eclectic Triphasic Medical System involves an
in-depth investigation of host and related tumor genomics. Often specific
growth factors such as HER 1, HER 2, PDGF and VEGF are over expressed in
cancer. The many pathways and downstream effectors of these major growth
factors will be explained. The presentation will also identify the best choices
of drug options to consider while demonstrating the important role of
botanicals for achieving long-term effective results.
April 26-May 1:
Mederi
Foundation Clinical Training Program Level One – "Fundamentals of the Eclectic
Triphasic Medical System" (ETMS)
Ashland, OR
May 20-23:
Institute
for Functional Medicine’s (IFM) 17th International Symposium – "Assessment and Treatment of Cancer from a Functional Medicine Perspective"
La Costa Resort, Carlsbad, CA
"Botanical Medicine in Cancer: Case Series Results"
Through case study presentations, learn how the ETMS (Eclectic Triphasic Medical System) combines botanical medicine, nutritional agents and diet, together with personalized, target-specific pharmaceuticals, such as chemotherapy, Tyrosine Kinase inhibitors, and Monoclonal Antibodies, as the key principle therapies for the management of cancer to significantly improve patient quality of life and lifespan.
- Review the scientific support of botanical and nutritional medicine in cancer and apply this knowledge in individualizing cancer care to the patient
- Obtain skills in investigating and evaluating host and tumor pathology in order to appropriately apply adjunctive botanical and nutritional therapies
- Through case study presentations, learn how to build a framework protocol including appropriate selection of botanical medicines and drug therapies based on this personalized approach
July 10-11:
