John and Barbara Connor, Compassionate Acupuncture & Healing Arts

Barbara and John Connor have been working together for 17 years helping people to live healthier and more vibrant lives.  They incorporate acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, and integrative oncology treatments in their successful practice in Durham, North Carolina. We took a moment to ask John and Barbara a few questions about their practice.

Q: What are the benefits of working together as a team?

A: It is wonderful to have two inputs of head and heart rather than one. And we both have different strengths which helps so much in bringing the details and strategies of each case together and in the complexity involved in more advanced cases. We also have the added advantage of being able to spend some of our time together reading and studying what we love doing.

Q: You combine several modalities in your approach to healing -- how did this come to be?

A: We both decided to go to acupuncture school together 5 months after we were married 20 years ago. We were both fascinated and drawn to the energetics of the body and the Japanese style of acupuncture in school. We were trained in TCM and Japanese style acupuncture. And at the end of our schooling we were drawn to the cranio-sacral system after being treated for a car accident by a cranio-sacral acupuncturist. We became adept in this beautiful system of working on the body and were only missing the internal systemic piece of working with the internal biological terrain. When we met Donnie Yance at an herbal symposium we immediately knew that we had found the missing piece. We are spiritually focused and we were so happy to find that Donnie’s brilliance included a deep spiritual aspect. We have studied and worked close with Donnie since 2005. Now we feel we have the best of all worlds for healing with the incredible cranio-sacral acupuncture and the amazing ETMS system and herbal, nutritional formulas of Donnie Yance.

Q: What gives you the most satisfaction in your work?

Answer: Helping people who are in physical pain and who are in a chronic and debilitating disease state to transform into a state of wellness and happiness brings us great joy.
